Prescription Opiate Detox
Here at the Iboga House, we treat people with all kinds of addictions. Some of the prescription opiates we treat people for are OxyContin®, Oxycodone, Vicodin®, Norco, Methadone, Hydrocodone, LAAM, Lortab, Percocet®, Dilaudid, Darvocet ®, Demoral, Percodan, Lorcet, MS Contin®, Stadol, Suboxone®(Buprenorphine), Subutex, Tramadol, Fentanyl , Morphine and others. Addictions to these prescription painkillers are becoming an epidemic in society today. People are dying left and right from overdoses. Annual prescription opiate deaths actually surpass annual heroin and cocaine deaths combined. Did your doctor ever tell you that it is safer to be on heroin than the pills he has been prescribing you? Some of these opiates are more pure than heroin, which is why they are so dangerous. The drugs could be taken exactly as prescribed, but the body still becomes addicted. When people get addicted to these drugs, whether due to chronic pain or recreational use, they feel trapped. They need a pill to function in everyday life. They may no longer get high from it…they just need it to feel normal. Many people have tried to get off opiates by themselves or at a traditional rehab center, but statistics show the rates of relapse are through the roof regarding these methods. One of the reasons for the failure is because they still do not feel quite right. Your brain has been flooded with opiates for months or years, so it compensates by not making as many receptor sites. Once off the drugs, you may feel no pleasure at all…like nothing makes you happy because your brain cannot take up the needed endorphins (dysphoria). These pills can cause damage to your organs and glands as well, creating large imbalances. Sleep is disturbed for months and when the brain cannot rest, you suffer physically and mentally. Chronic fatigue and depression can set in and the only way out that people know of is to get back on the opiates.
We are here to tell you there is another way.
What Does Iboga Do?
Iboga offers a cure, not a temporary band-aid. It gets to the root of the problem and corrects it. After all, drug use is only a symptom of an underlying issue. It also takes away major withdrawal symptoms. In just four days, you can get to a point that would normally take 3 months as far as detoxing goes. Iboga cleans your body of any chemicals very fast. This is why iboga has such great success rates. To date the research that has been done has shown amazing results. We know it sounds too good to be true. Please watch some of our testimonials and check out some of the research so you can see for yourself. It is worth a try because it could save your life.
What is the Process Involved?
When you come to the Iboga House, you will have your first iboga treatment that very night (or earlier if you are starting to feel withdrawals). Moughenda is a 10th generation Bwiti Shaman with over 26 years of experience using the iboga root. He administers the iboga extract that is in a gel cap. He watches over you during the whole process, you are never left alone. As the medicine kicks in, any withdrawal symptoms disappear. The feeling and experience is different for everyone. During the initial detox you may feel a little “out of it”. You may or may not have visions or life reviews due to the medicine working on getting the toxins out. You may experience more visions during your second treatment a few days later, once your body is clean. The iboga may keep you awake the whole night, although some people are able to sleep. Patients usually have low energy levels the day after iboga. Our aftercare team makes sure you are drinking fluids and eating regularly in order to regain your energy. In a few cases of longer acting opiates, patients may feel withdrawal symptoms the following afternoon. If this happens, Moughenda gives a small dose of iboga to relieve you of the symptoms. Some people regain their energy fast and some people may feel like they have a hangover, but all patients regain their energy within a couple days after the initial detox.
As soon as you eat and sleep well, you undergo a psycho-spiritual iboga journey guided by Moughenda and his assistants a few days later. This is where you do a lot of work on yourself and find the truth. Some people interact with deceased ancestors or simply their higher selves. You can ask questions and get answers. Some people undergo a life review where they see a point in time where a negative thought or behavioral problem started. The possibilities are endless. We like to give the patient an idea of what can happen during this time because it is a frequently asked question, but like we said before, every experience is different and it is a good idea to not have any expectations. Usually the day after your journey is a very introspective time where you may just feel like being by yourself and processing all of the information you just experienced. Moughenda also checks on you daily and does one-on-one and group counseling sessions.
As soon as you recover and sleep well from the psycho-spiritual journey, the Iboga House takes you to a spa where you have a gourmet lunch and can swim in the volcanic hot spring water. You can have a mud bath, a massage or even go horseback riding up a mountain and zip-line down. On another day you can go to the beach and have a wonderful lunch at a restaurant right on the ocean. We make sure all of our patients are taken care of and happy. By the end of your 9 day stay at the Iboga House, you leave with a new lease on life.
