IBOGAINE

Ibogaine is a naturally occurring compound and a member of the dogbane family known as Iboga. The Iboga plant can be found in the rainforests of western Central Africa. Although Ibogaine can be extracted from the leaves and roots the highest concentrate is found in the roots. Iboga plants grow on average to about 2 – 3 meters tall and have round or elongated fruits that are orange in color. Ibogaine is a central element surrounding the traditions of Bwiti. Ibogaine is can be used through Bwiti for personal development, overcoming addictions and as a pathway to the spiritual world. There are also many other medicinal and ritual practical uses for Ibogaine (View Services). Ibogaine should be taken under close guidance and supervision of a Bwiti Shaman.

Ibogaine In its purest form Ibogaine is a bitter tasting powder. In addition to occurring naturally in the Iboga plant it is also present in Voacanga Africana. There is limited interest and use as a recreational psychoactive drug due to its long lasting duration and non-addictive properties. There are, however, many benefits to using Ibogaine. Studies in the early 1960’s have confirmed that Ibogaine can effectively be used as an anti-addiction therapy for harsh drugs such as opiate. Further research and studies have concluded that Ibogaine can be used effectively to treat a wide variety of other ailments such as drug, alcohol, food, and tobacco addiction, by removing both the withdrawal symptoms and reducing craving after administration. Furthermore, Ibogaine has psychoactive properties that induce a dreamlike state; helping users understand and reverse their addictive behavior.

IBOGAINE TREATMENT

Ibogaine Treatment With drug interruption, a single administration of Ibogaine has three useful effects. First, it eliminates the symptoms of drug withdrawal, thereby allowing relatively painless detoxification. Second, there is a reduction in the desire to use the drugs after treatment. Third, Ibogaine’s psychoactive nature helps users understand and resolve the issues behind their addictive behavior. In addition to being useful in the treatment of addiction, Ibogaine is also beneficial in the field of psychotherapy, especially as a treatment for the effects of trauma or conditioning.

Ibogaine will begin to take effect anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours. Depending on the nature of the treatment and thus the amount of Ibogaine received some of the peak or most intense effects can last up to 24 hours or more. A user may be immobilized at this time and under the care of a Bwiti Shaman.

It produces a conscious dreamlike state that activates the user’s long-term memory. This allows information from the unconscious to come to the surface, causing insight into oneself. Patients describe their experience as a dream, where they can watch past, present and future scenes of their life and have the ability to reorganize that information. It allows users to see their true self and re-experience past events and repressed memories without the emotional attachment that usually exists. Users can then choose to continue with the same limiting beliefs or change them in order to achieve the life they desire.

Some therapists equate one Ibogaine treatment to years of group therapy.
